Updated: KEB Exclusive: Over 70 gays arrested in Lagos, Set to appear in Court today, to get 14years jail term each

This is indeed a very serious and vital issue most especially for the LGBT and MSM Community in Lagos State. Last week friday, no fewer than 70 gays were arrested in a Gay party at Royal Vintage Hotel, situated at Weigh Bridge in Ikorodu,  Owode Onirin area of Lagos State.


 KEB gathered that a resident of the area, who gave his name only as Tunji, said policemen from the Owode Onirin Division swooped on the suspects around 3.3am last week friday.

He said:

“There have been reports that the hotel harbors homosexuals. They were there early saturday morning when policemen struck. About 40 of them were caught in the act.”

 The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Olarinde Famous-Cole, confirmed the arrest.

He added that the suspects had been handed over to the state task force for prosecution. It is true. About 70 suspected homosexuals were arrested and the hotel has been condoned off  while investigation continues. They are in custody of the Lagos State Task Force and will be charged to court soon.”

 A Gay Organization in the State (TIERS) on Saturday reportedly bailed some of their members at the police custody on Saturday evening. Most of the arrested Gays found it extremely difficult to call their parents for bail because according to them, it will be extremely shameful, as most of their parents do not know they live that kind of life style and may not know their fate hereafter.

When one of the parents of  one of the arrested gays was questioned as the Station. She was identified as Richard's Mother. She simply mentioned...
 
      '' I am completely shocked, and disappointed at my son Richard. How come i never noticed this?. I have lived with my son for over 25 years and am shocked i even barely know him. One thing is certain, if he miraculously comes out of this, i will disown him. I cant bear to have a homosexual as a son. ''

Recall that the Same Sex Marriage Prohibition  bill Act signed by Former President Goodluck Jonathan in January 2014 also criminalizes homosexual clubs, associations and organizations, with penalties of up to 14 years in jail. Meanwhile when i visited the Station late Saturday, I managed to get entry into the cells they were caged. In one of the cells, i spotted about four guys having sex with each other not minding the condition or situation. I also heard a loud Gay shouting '' Abeg make them separate the bottom from the tops o.'' ( What ever that means)

When i asked one of the inmate identified as Dammy Nutty ( A member of a popular Uncensored Gay Dance Group),  for a first hand information, he simply yelled at me saying, '' Abeg commot for here, we dey enjoy our honeymoon o, no come disturb us''.
